BuCor Correctional Institution For Women Celebrates 90th Founding Anniversary


The Bureau of Correction (BuCor)’s exclusive facility for women persons deprived of liberty (PDL), the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), celebrated its 90th founding anniversary on February 16.


In a ceremony held in Mandaluyong City, BuCor Director General, Undersecretary Gerald Q. Bantag, thanked all stakeholders for their contribution to the operation of CIW and other facilities.
Partner institutions present during the program were Datu Odin Sinsuat Development Educational Foundation, Mindanao State University and Climate Smart Network, Inc.

“I salute the outstanding performance of our CIW personnel and their dedication to their duties. Bagamat ang ating institution dito ay 90 years old na po, batid natin na marami pa tayong mga positibong pagbabagong dapat gawin," the BuCor Chief said.

CIW Superintendent, Corrections Senior Superintendent Virginia S. Mangawit, RSW welcomed the supporters of CIW through the years.
To commemorate this milestone, the Tuberculosis Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (TB DOTS), HIV and Drug Testing Center was inaugurated.

This vital diagnostics services aims to further promote the health & well-being of PDLs and BuCor personnel. It also supports the rehabilitation, reformation and reintegration mandates of the said agency.
BuCor officials with Assistant Secretary Gabriel P. Chaclag, Deputy Director for Reformation and Operation, and Chief Superintendent Robert Veneracion, Deputy Director, Corrections Training School were also present.
With the theme “CIW Evolving and Adapting towards New Normal through Efficient Leadership, Perseverance and Commitment”, the CIW and the whole of BuCor can look forward to a brighter future.
