The Bureau of Corrections, through the office of the Directorate for External Relations (DER) held a face to face meeting with ATTY DANNY L. GAPASIN, JR., President of Integrated Bar of the Philippines Pasay-Parañaque-Las Piñas-Muntinlupa (IBP-PPLM) at the Hall of Justice, Parañaque City Hall. The meeting was attended by C/SINSP EUSEBIO B DEL ROSARIO JR, together with the 2 lawyers of DER namely CO1 (Atty.) Nancy Pun-ad and Atty. Bryan Gai T Idmilao. They were also assisted by two Public Information Office staff namely CO1 Oniel Tagum and CO1 Randy Estabillo.
The representatives of BuCor discussed to ATTY. GAPASIN, JR., the implementation of the Pre and Post Release Programs for soon-to-be-released Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL). BuCor representatives and Atty. Gapasin have had a smooth and productive plan that the BuCor may schedule a lecture to the members of IBP-PPLM regarding the computation of Good Conduct Time Allowances (GCTA) of released PDL and the IBP-PPLM, on the other hand, may provide paralegal counseling to our clientele with the supervision of DER and in coordination with the Inmates Documents Processing Division (IDPD) of BuCor.
ATTY. GAPASIN states that he will endorse these plans to the Board of IBP PPLM Chapter especially the possibility of Memorandum of Agreement. The signing may be scheduled during the Law Month if both parties will eventually agree to the draft MOA.
The Bureau, under the leadership of the Director General, USEC GERALD Q BANTAG, continues to build stronger linkages with other agencies, in accordance with the lawful mandates of BuCor, to help our clientele have a better life upon release.
