The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) formally ushered in the year 2026 with a New Year’s Call to the Director General on 05 January 2026 at the Social Hall of the BuCor National Headquarters, gathering officials and personnel in a collective reaffirmation of duty, unity, and institutional purpose.
The program commenced with the arrival of the Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH. Senior leaders, including Deputy Director Generals, Directors of Directorates, Chiefs of Offices under the Office of the Director General (ODG) Cluster, Superintendents of Operating Prisons and Penal Farms (OPPFs), Division Chiefs, Camp Commanders of the New Bilibid Prison, and selected consultants, were in attendance.
An invocation was led by CT/SINSP Fr. DOMINIC R LIBREA, BuCor Chaplain. This was followed by a reaffirmation of commitment, underscoring the shared responsibility of BuCor personnel to uphold the highest standard of integrity, discipline, professionalism, and public service in the performance of their duties.
An audio-visual presentation highlighting the Bureau’s significant accomplishments for Calendar Year 2025 followed the reaffirmation of commitment. The AVP portrayed BuCor at the heart of “The Greatest Turnaround,” reflecting the Bureau’s ongoing efforts to confront long-standing challenges, strengthen systems, and advance a corrections service anchored on justice, security, and humane reformation. An intermission number was subsequently presented by Ms. Kylene Forastero, following the audio-visual presentation.
In his New Year’s message and toast, DIRECTOR GENERAL CATAPANG reflected on the Bureau’s progress over the past year and expressed confidence in sustaining the reforms already underway. He emphasized that alongside operational and institutional improvements, the welfare of BuCor personnel remains a priority, particularly in areas concerning career development, promotions, and benefits. The Director General reminded personnel to continue performing their roles with integrity and excellence, noting that consistent individual commitment is vital to the success of the Bureau’s reform agenda.
A token of appreciation was presented to the Director General in recognition of his leadership, compassion, and continued guidance of the Bureau.
The activity concluded with the singing of the BuCor Hymn, symbolizing unity and shared resolve as the Bureau moves forward into the year. The New Year’s Call was hosted by MS. JORDINE ROSE R. OCON, CrFA, MPS, Chief of the Strategic Communications Office, who served as the Master of Ceremonies and ensured the orderly conduct and smooth flow of the program.
