The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) formally welcomed a new group of Commissioned Officers during the oath-taking and donning of ranks ceremony held on 18 May 2026 in front of the Administration Building at the National Headquarters (NHQ).
Taking their oath and receiving their new ranks were CT/SINSP JOHN PHILIP D CALAPOTOC of the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) and CT/SINSP REV. FR. JASPER A TABANGAY of the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF).
Also conferred with their ranks as Corrections Inspectors were C/INSP ALVIN A ALVAREZ of the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF); C/INSP ALVIN M DEANG, C/INSP PHOEBE A SABADISTO, C/INSP BENAZIR ALYSSA M MADDAS, C/INSP FERDINAND P ROSARIO, and C/INSP RHYZA A TAMTAMAN of the NHQ; and C/INSP CRIZTAL JADE W TABAJONDA of the DPPF.
In his message, BuCor Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, congratulated the newly appointed officers for reaching this significant career milestone. He emphasized that the Bureau remains committed to recognizing competence, dedication, and merit within the organization.
He further assured personnel that more promotions and career advancement opportunities will come to those who are deserving, underscoring that hard work, discipline, and commitment to duty will continue to be acknowledged in the Bureau.
The donning of ranks symbolizes the assumption of higher responsibility and also the trust and confidence bestowed upon the officers as they take on greater roles in the fulfillment of BuCor’s mandate of safekeeping and reformation.
Through the appointment of Lateral Entry Officers, the Bureau continues to strengthen its professional corps and reinforce its commitment to institutional excellence, leadership development, and public service.
