Iwahig, Puerto Princesa City – A total of 500 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) were successfully transferred to the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) on 16 May 2026 as part of the continuing efforts of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) to decongest facilities and improve correctional management.
During the transfer, CT/SINSP (Fr.) DOMINIC R LIBREA, IPPF Chaplain, led a prayer, invoking guidance, safety, and protection for the PDL, escort personnel, and all participating units throughout the operation.
Escort personnel strictly observed all security protocols throughout the transfer, ensuring a safe and incident-free operation. Close coordination among involved units such as the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO), City Traffic Management Office (CTMO), Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDP) and other concerned agencies, enabled the efficient and orderly movement of PDL in accordance with established procedures.

BuCor Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, through IPPF Superintendent, C/SUPT EDGARDO F MENDOZA JR., underscores the commitment of BuCor to strengthening the management of correctional institutions while promoting improved living conditions and reformation opportunities for PDL.
