The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) actively participated in the second day of the two-day Kalayaan Government Programs and Services (GPS) and Diskwento Caravan on 07 June 2026, highlighting its commitment to public information, institutional transparency, and community engagement.
Representing BuCor during the event were MS. JORDINE ROSE R. OCON, CrFA, MPS, Director of the Directorate for Planning and Management (DPM) and Chief of the Strategic Communications Office (SCO), and C/SINSP (Atty.) NANCY P PUN-AD, Camp Commander of the Maximum Security Camp of the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), Chief of the Human Rights Office, and Concurrent Chief of the CIW Legal Unit.
As part of BuCor’s information and awareness campaign, C/SINSP PUN-AD delivered a presentation featuring an Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) on the rich history, mandate, and significant developments of CIW. The presentation provided attendees with valuable insights into CIW’s vital role in the rehabilitation and reintegration of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL), particularly women, as they prepare for their eventual return to society.
The program continued with Ms. OCON’s presentation on BuCor’s strategic direction through an AVP showcasing the agency’s Development Plans. Her discussion provided a comprehensive overview of BuCor’s long-term vision and priority programs, emphasizing the Bureau’s commitment to modernizing correctional facilities, improving institutional efficiency, and strengthening reformation and reintegration programs for PDL.
The presentation also highlighted ongoing and planned infrastructure development projects aimed at enhancing security, safety, operational capacity, and economic progress across correctional institutions nationwide. Further, it underscored key institutional reforms designed to promote transparency, accountability, and professionalism within the Bureau, alongside initiatives that support the continuous improvement of corrections management systems and services.
The BuCor mascots, CO Malaya and CO Dakila, actively participated alongside mascots from various government agencies. They joined the mascot dance performances, visited different agency booths, interacted with government personnel and visitors, and helped promote public awareness of government programs and services in a fun and interactive manner.
Through its participation in the Kalayaan GPS and Diskwento Caravan, BuCor reaffirmed its support for whole-of-government efforts to bring public services closer to the people while strengthening public understanding of the Bureau’s mandate, reforms, and continuing contributions to nation-building.
