The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) led by the Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, conducted the 4th BuCor Cup Inter-Operating Prisons and Penal Farms (OPPFs) Competition, a Philippine Practical Shooting Association (PPSA) Level 1 Sanctioned Match, hosted by Team Catz Gun Club, Inc., headed by Mr. Alfredo Catalan Jr., on 12 July 2026 at the BuCor Shooting Range, Muntinlupa City.
The competition gathered marksmen and women from various BuCor Offices and OPPFs in a display of precision, discipline, and tactical proficiency. The event featured six (6) challenging stages designed to assess the speed, accuracy, firearms handling, and decision-making under pressure of the participants.
Also in attendance were ASEC AL I PERRERAS, Deputy Director General for Administration (DDGA), and ASEC GIL T TORRALBA, Deputy Director General for Security and Operations (DDGSO), whose presence underscored the continued support of the Bureau for initiatives that promote professional development, teamwork, and operational excellence.
After a highly competitive series of matches, the following shooters emerged as champions in their respective divisions:
In the Lady Category, CO1 Teresa Job claimed the championship title, while CTO1 Roxanne Toto secured the first runner-up position.
In the Senior Category, CSO3 Allan Arzadon emerged as Champion, with CTSO2 Melvin Deang finishing as first runner-up.
The Superintendent Category was topped by C/SSUPT GARY A GARCIA, while C/SUPT MICHAEL M MARTIN placed first runner-up.
For the Individual Overall standings, CO2 Ruben Gutierrez was crowned Overall Champion, followed by CO1 Renz Jerico Garcia in first place, CSO1 Rowell De Garcia in second place, CO1 Rovin Taylan in third place, and CO1 Denver Julian in fourth place.
In the Team Overall Competition, New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Team 1 captured the championship title, followed by Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) as first runner-up, BuCor SWAT in second place, NBP Team 2 in third place, and Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) Team 1 in fourth place.
Meanwhile, the Team Relay (All Steel) Championship was won by IPPF and Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) Team 2 finished as first runner-up.
The conduct of the 4th BuCor Cup highlighted the commitment of the Bureau to fostering professionalism, discipline, and operational competence among its personnel. Beyond recognizing marksmanship excellence, the competition strengthened camaraderie and reinforced the importance of continuous skills enhancement in support of the mission of the Bureau of maintaining a secure, efficient, and professional corrections system.
