Eighty (80) Corrections Officers of Class 2026-01 “ALAB-LIGTAS” completed the Custodial Officer Junior Supervisory Course (COJSC) during its Graduation Ceremony held on 15 July 2026 at the Liwanag Building, Corrections National Training Institute (CNTI).
The course, which commenced on 30 April 2026, was conducted simultaneously across the Operating Prisons and Penal Farms (OPPFs) of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), reflecting the unified and standardized approach of the Bureau to developing competent and effective frontline supervisors capable of leading correctional operations with professionalism and integrity.
The ceremony was graced by ASEC GIL T TORRALBA, Deputy Director General for Security and Operations (DDGSO), who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. In his address, he reminded the graduates that the reputation of the Bureau rests on the conduct and character of every Corrections Officer. He emphasized that integrity means remaining honest in all circumstances, discipline begins with self-discipline, and true public service requires placing the welfare of others above oneself. He challenged the graduates to become Corrections Officers who lead by example and consistently uphold the highest standards of professionalism in carrying out the mandate of BuCor.

JORDINE ROSE R OCON, CrFA, MPS, Director, Directorate for Planning and Management (DPM) and Chief, Strategic Communications Office (SCO); MR. DALMACIO L CARINGAL, Director, Directorate for Personnel, Education, and Training Services (DPETS); and Fr. Jesus N Los Bañez Jr., Service Chaplain.
A highlight of the graduation ceremony was the recognition of the class’ outstanding performers. CO3 Sonny A Colete emerged as the Top 1 Overall Graduate, followed by CO3 Edmundo Jr C Albania (Top 2), CO3 Rockyeus U Magallanes (Top 3), CO3 Isaiah Ezekiel John S Porter (Top 4), CO3 Beny S Villapando (Top 5), CO3 Ivy D Tapong (Top 6), CO3 Jocelyn C Mendoza (Top 7), CO3 Romeo Jr T Dominguez (Top 8 ), CO3 Van Robert M Gibela (Top 9), and CO3 Joz V Alcantara (Top 10).
Special awards were likewise conferred upon graduates who demonstrated exceptional competence and leadership throughout the course. CTO3 Lira G Pangilinan received the Leadership Award, while CO3 Magallanes was honored with the Tactical Leadership Award. CO3 Randy C Onia earned the Top Gun Male Award and CO3 Ivy D Tapong was recognized as Top Gun Female. The prestigious Bernardo Carpio Award, recognizing outstanding physical excellence, was presented to CO3 Sonny A Colete and CO3 Ivy D Tapong.
The completion of the COJSC Class 2026-01 “ALAB-LIGTAS” underscores the continuing commitment of the Bureau to professionalizing its workforce and strengthening institutional capability. Through specialized leadership and supervisory training, the Bureau ensures that its personnel are equipped with the competence, integrity, discipline, and professionalism necessary to effectively uphold its mandate of safekeeping and the reformation of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).
