The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) simultaneously conducted the Oath-Taking Ceremony and Donning of Ranks for newly promoted and appointed Commissioned Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and Lateral Entry personnel on 17 July 2026 at the New Conference Room, National Headquarters (NHQ), Muntinlupa City.
The ceremony was held across all Operating Prisons and Penal Farms (OPPFs), marking the continuing efforts of the Bureau to strengthen its workforce through merit-based promotions and professional development.
The oath-taking ceremony was administered by BuCor Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, who formally welcomed the newly promoted and appointed personnel to their higher responsibilities in the correctional service.
A total of 97 personnel received promotions across the Bureau. Of these, 61 were from the New Bilibid Prison-National Headquarters (NBP-NHQ), 11 from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), seven (7) from the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP), six (6) from the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF), five (5) from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF), four (4) from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF), and three (3) from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF).
The promotions included one (1) officer promoted from CT/SINSP to CT/CINSP; 1 from CINSP to CSINSP; 4 from CTO3 to CTSO1; 1 from CTO2 to CTO3; 4 from CO2 to CO3; 85 from CO1 to CO2; and 1 from CTO1 to CTO2.
The ceremony likewise recognized the appointment of two (2) Lateral Entry Officers, with 1 appointed to the rank of CT/SINSP and 1 appointed to the rank of C/SINSP.
During the ceremony, DG CATAPANG emphasized that the ongoing promotion program is part of his vision to establish the proper organizational structure within the Bureau, ensuring a balanced leadership pyramid that strengthens operational efficiency and institutional effectiveness. He further encouraged the newly promoted and appointed officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, reminding them that they play a vital role in transforming the Bureau of Corrections into a strong and reliable vanguard of the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ initiative.
The simultaneous conduct of the oath-taking and donning of ranks underscores commitment of the BuCor to recognizing competence, dedication, and exemplary service while reinforcing professionalism and leadership across all its operating units.
