BuCor welcomes 1,085 newly hired Corrections Officers

One thousand eighty-five (1,085) newly recruited Corrections Officer 1 (CO1) took their oath in simultaneous ceremonies held at various Operating Prisons and Penal Farms (OPPF) of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) today, July 15, 2024. The group of recruits, comprising 871 males and 214 females, stood proudly as they vowed to uphold the principles of public service and integrity.
BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, presided over the oath-taking ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the Bureau’s commitment to enhancing its operational capacity.
At the National Headquarters, the ceremony was attended by ASEC GIL T TORRALBA, Deputy Director General for Security and Operations, C/CSUPT CELSO S BRAVO, OIC-Deputy Director General for Reformation, and other BuCor key officials, consultants, and the recruits’ families and friends. Simultaneously, ceremonies at each OPPF were led by their respective Superintendents, ensuring a cohesive and unified induction process.
In a notable addition, Ms. Jordine Rose R. Ocon participated in the oath-taking ceremony in the capacity of Supervising Administrative Officer.
DG CATAPANG underscored the evolving nature of BuCor and the transformative changes it is undergoing. He urged the new officers to uphold professionalism and dedication as they embark on their careers within the Bureau.
Following the oath-taking, the recruits will undergo an intensive six-month training program at the Corrections National Training Institute. This rigorous training will equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfill their responsibilities effectively. Upon completion, these officers will be deployed to various BuCor facilities across the country, where they will contribute significantly to the security, safety, and rehabilitation of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
