CNTI Facilitates In-House Activity for COBRC Class 2024-03 Following Flag Raising Ceremony

Earlier today, 28 April 2025, an in-house activity was successfully conducted at the Sunken Garden for the 131 members of the Custodial Officer Basic Recruit Course (COBRC) Class 2024-03. The activity, facilitated by the Corrections National Training Institute (CNTI), immediately followed the Flag Raising Ceremony. The class is composed of 80 male and 51 female trainees.

The activity was spearheaded by CSUPT LUCIO C GUEVARRA, Acting Director of CNTI, with support from CSINSP ALLAN A ROSALES, Deputy Director and Commandant of CNTI, along with CSO3 Quirico Aligaga, Deputy Commandant. Assisting them were CO3 Cruzado Alindayo, Chief Tactics, along with the Applied Training Division’s administrative staff, tactical nurses, and Tactical Non-Commissioned Officers (TNCOs).

The activity began with the Commandant giving instructions to the Tactical Non-Commissioned Officers at the Sunken Garden. Following the briefing, members of COBRC Class 2024-03, each carrying a single backpack, performed a duck walk from the Sunken Garden to the CNTI Parade Ground.

The duck walk, performed during the reception of new trainees at the training camp, serves both symbolic and disciplinary purposes. It acts as an initial test of the trainees’ physical endurance, discipline, and mental toughness. Additionally, it instillss humility, promotes unity among the trainees, and establishes the standard of resilience, obedience, and teamwork expected throughout their training journey.
