DPPF conducts Community Outreach through a Donation Drive

On the first week of February 2024, massive flooding due to the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was experienced by the majority of the Davao Region. The devastation brought about by the calamity affected the nearby Barangays of Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF), particularly, Carmen and parts of Braulio E. Dujali, Davao del Norte. Most areas were temporarily inaccessible causing residents to experience a shortage of food supply and basic necessities.
C/SINSP EDGARDO F MENDOZA JR, DPPF Acting Superintendent, the entire workforce of the penal farm along with the Correctional Institution for Women-Mindanao (CIW-MIN) and community joined hands to extend assistance to our fellow men in dire need of help. The DPPF Administration launched a Donation Drive to provide immediate help to the calamity victims. Through the goodwill and concerted efforts of all personnel and the community, the drive raised ₱88, 177.00 in cash donations.
The DPPF Team headed by C/SINSP REDENTOR S ROQUE- Deputy Superintendent for Administration distributed one hundred fifty (150) bags of consumables (rice, canned sardines, milo, powdered milk, infant diapers, sanitary pads, biscuits, bottled water) and six (6) sacks of clothes to the community evacuated at Anibongan National High School and other evacuees at Brgy. Anibongan, Carmen, Davao del Norte.
In addition, two hundred twenty-seven (227) bags of consumables were donated to the affected communities of Purok 1, Brgy, Guadalupe, and Brgy. Salvacion, Davao del Norte while the CIW-Min led by C/CINSP DIVINA S CAMIÑA, Deputy Superintendent for Security and Operations distributed relief goods contributed by their personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) to one hundred forty-five (145) affected household at Brgy.Guadalupe, Carmen, Davao del Norte.
Likewise, members of the DPPF Community conducted a donation drive at Brgy. Cabaywa, Asuncion, Davao del Norte and Sto.Niño Church Chaplaincy had their donation drive and feeding program also at Brgy. Anibongan, Carmen, Davao del Norte.
Truly, in these trying times for the Davao Region, the power of human kindness is beyond exceptional. Through the grace of the Almighty, all of our confined PDL, personnel and members of our community are safe, with no reported uneventful incident. The DPPF and CIW-Min extend utmost gratitude to the administration of Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH for the unwavering support to our facility.
