Reintegration Program Empowers Persons Deprived of Liberty in Baguio City

On April 8, 2024, a Reintegration Program for due-for-release Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) was held at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Fort Del Pilar in Baguio City. The program was led by esteemed officials CT/SUPT NOEL M MARQUEZ, DVM, DPA, Acting Director of the Directorate for External Relations (DER), and CT/INSP STELLA MAY C LAT, Chief of the External Affairs Division (EAD), along with EAD and External Affairs Section (EAS) personnel.
With the support of the POST STOCKAGE Service Support Company of PMA, under the leadership of MAJ EMIL G LAYBA (INF) PA Commanding Officer, the program aimed to provide PDLs with necessary skills and support to aid in their eventual release and reintegration into society.
Throughout the program, participants engaged in a series of lectures and activities focusing on Personality Development. The topics included Stress Management, Anger Management, Understanding Depression, and Conflict Management. The program also emphasized mental health awareness, highlighting its importance in the reintegration process. The interactive sessions allowed for meaningful engagement among participants, creating a positive environment for growth and learning.
Practical skills, such as making dishwashing liquid, were also taught. The program concluded with a heartfelt closing ceremony, during which expressions of gratitude were exchanged by both agencies, representing the shared experiences and lessons learned for PDLs on their path toward reintegration.
The success of the program emphasized the commitment of BuCor and PMA towards rehabilitation and reintegration. Through collaborative efforts, PDLs are empowered with the tools necessary for a fresh start and a brighter future upon their release.
