BuCor celebrates International Women’s Day

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) celebrated International Women’s Day with a program at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), Mandaluyong City today, March 8, 2024.
Presidential Adviser on Muslim Affairs, Secretary ALMARIN C TILLAH, AL HAJ joined BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.) CESE, CCLH in the celebration at CIW. Also present were C/SSUPT DAISY SEVILLA-CASTILLOTE, CIW Acting Superintendent, CT/CSUPT MA. LOURDES RAZON, C/SINSP ELSA M MARTORILLAS, C/INSP LEONIDA M BENDIJO, Non-Commissioned Officers and Non-Uniformed Personnel.
The program began with a drum and lyre presentation by Women Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), followed by readings from the Qur’an and dance performances by the PDLs.
Secretary TILLAH’s attendance aims to support and strengthen the well-being of incarcerated female Muslims. This highlighted his dedication to protecting their rights and ensuring their welfare within the justice system. He underscored some strategies during his speech to improve the conditions of Muslim PDLs, develop a vision for their advancement, and promise to address their specific needs and difficulties. Furthermore, he extended warm wishes for a prosperous Ramadan, invoking blessings from Allah for all.
