500 PDLs arrive at DPPF

On March 18, 2024, a total of 500 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) arrived at the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) from New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
The transfer of PDLs raised hope for positive changes within the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor). This significant move signifies a strategic effort by the BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH to address issues concerning congestion, rehabilitation, and safety concerns in prison facilities.
The transfer was facilitated by the collective endeavors of the NBP security force led by C/SINSP ROBERTO BUTAWAN together with the DPPF team led by C/INSP ARGIE H ADEL, Commander of the Guards, and was supervised by DPPF Acting Superintendent, C/SINSP EDGARDO F MENDOZA JR with the help of other government agencies including the Davao City Police Office, Maritime Police led by PCPT NOEL S COSTAN, Philippine Coast Guard, and Davao City Port Management Office led by SINSP JUNE RYAN TUBERA. The presence of these friendly forces ensured the highest level of security to maintain peace and order within and outside the premises.
Upon the proper turnover of PDL, the DPPF guarantees that the institution will utilize all the remedial, educational, moral, spiritual, and other forces and forms of assistance that are appropriate and available and will seek to apply them according to the individual treatment needs of the prisoners.
C/SINSP MENDOZA JR, Acting Superintendent of Davao Prison and Penal Farm recognizes the efforts of his men for the successful and speedy transfer of PDL.
