The Education and Training Section (ETS) of Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) commenced another memorable event to celebrate the most awaited day of every Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) Learners which marked triumph and achievement on their 13th Graduation Ceremony of PDL Learners on Alternative Learning System (ALS) Batch 2021-2022 last May 5, 2023 at the Maximum Security Compound Visiting Hall, with a theme: “K-12 Graduates, Pursuing Dreams and Fostering Resilience in the Face of Adversity”.
The ceremony began with a processional march of the PDL graduates, DPPF Key Officials, Guests, and ETS Staff.
CTO3 Rosario C Obenza, Chief, ETS emphasized the essence of the ceremony during her opening remarks and encouraged the graduates to continue their determination and passion in participating to the various programs and opportunities BuCor could offer. She then presented the 64 elementary graduates and one hundred twelve (112) Junior High School graduates confirmed by the Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) of Davao del Norte, and Reynaldo B. Mellorida, CESO V, represented by Ms. Lourdes A. Navarro, Education Program Supervisor.
On behalf of SDS-DDN, Ms. Navarro delivered an inspirational message and convinced the PDL graduates to continue their dreams and encouraged them that opportunities are still open for them that could change their lives.
DPPF Officer-In-Charge C/SUPT RUFINO A MARTIN, MBA, CSMS; Deputy Superintendent for Reformation, C/CINSP DIOMEDES C DADOR JR; Commander of the Guards, C/SINSP RAYMUND DL PENEYRA; CTO3 Rosario Obenza; Executive Assistant IV Anselmo Junio; and Ms. Lourdes Navarro distributed the certificates and awarding of medals and diplomas.
As the graduates stepped to receive their certificates, medals and diplomas, their hearts were filled with mixed emotions — love, sadness, and self-fulfillment.
Moreover, Mr. Anselmo Junio, Provincial Governor’s Executive Assistant IV, read the words of encouragement from the Provincial Governor, Hon. Edwin I Jubahib to the graduates/completers that, “by the cooperation of the government and citizen it may result into a more peaceful society and motivates the government to initiate more valuable programs for a better living because we are One DavNor, One Team. We are One.”
C/SUPT MARTIN promotes the various DPPF programs as a great avenue for success and to help change the lives of every PDL with equipped learnings to become better persons.
The harmonious connection of DPPF ETS to the DepEd and Provincial Government of Davao del Norte opened a way to build more opportunities to help PDL gain academic and skills training competencies which they could use to lessen their days of imprisonment. Moreover, which they can use to earn a decent living outside the prison walls. The section was also eager and determined to improve programs that would create locally and globally competitive graduates.
The Bureau of Corrections is proud to present its newly announced graduates/ completers advancing through the current K to 12 Curriculum. They have never been left behind and they were able to cope up with the educational capacities that they have experience while incarcerated.
