Iwahig, Puerto Princesa – A total of three hundred (300) Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) from New Bilibid Prison (NBP) under proper escort units safely arrived at Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) on December 9, 2023.
This is the 3rd batch of massive PDL transfers from NBP to IPPF which is part of the continuous effort of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) to decongest the number of PDL at the NBP by transferring them to other Operating Prisons and Penal Farms (OPPF). The 300 PDL transferred for the month of December, 450 in October and 497 in July is included in the total number of one thousand two hundred forty-seven (1247) PDL that were received by this penal farm since July 2023.
The successful turnover was made possible through the efforts of the security force established by the IPPF under the command of C/CINSP GARY A GARCIA, RCrim, MSCA, IPPF Superintendent. Upon the arrival of the 300 PDL in their respective prison compounds, proper procedures such as PDL accounting and inspection were also carried out.
Further, C/CINSP GARCIA strongly upholds the twin mandate of the bureau, which is to safekeep and provides quality reformation programs to all PDL under our care that will contribute to their holistic transformation as individuals.
