Iwahig, Puerto Princesa – A total of four hundred fifty (450) Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) from New Bilibid Prison and Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), Mandaluyong City were successfully transferred to the custody of Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) on October 1, 2023.
The transfer of these PDL was still in line with the continuous effort of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) to gradually decongest the PDL population at NBP and CIW. Thus, IPPF ensures that all turned-over PDL will be provided with quality reformation programs for their positive transformation as individuals.
Also, C/CINSP GARY A GARCIA, RCrim, MSCA, Superintendent of IPPF, guarantees the local community that the arrival of these PDL will not cause any harm or risk as IPPF is dedicated in providing a high level of security to maintain public peace and order.
Proper procedures such as PDL accounting and inspection were administered to these 400 men PDL and 50 women PDL upon their arrival in their respective prison camps. Further, the IPPF Medical Team also conducted a thorough medical check-up of each PDL to keep track of their current health status and document each individual medical record.
The Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, through the Superintendent of IPPF, C/CINSP GARY A GARCIA RCrim, MSCA, is committed to perform their duties and responsibilities in accordance with the bureau’s twin mandate, which is: Safekeeping and Reformation.
