3rd Culminating Activity for 2024

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) conducted its third Culminating Activity this 2024 for the 166 released Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) today, April 1, 2024, at the Social Hall of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservation, Muntinlupa City.
On behalf of the Secretary of Justice HON. JESUS CRISPIN REMULLA, USEC DEO MARCO attended the activity. Also present were BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.) CESE, CCLH; ATTY. PERSIDA RUEDA-ACOSTA, Chief of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO); ATTY. SERGIO R. CALIZO, JR., Chairperson of the Board of Pardons and Parole; and DIRECTOR LEONIDES P. CASTILLON, JR. of the Department of Labor and Employment.
With the theme “Pagpapalakas ng Programang Pang-Repormasyon, Tungo sa Tagumpay at Panibagong Ambisyon”, the 106 released today were included in the total number of 783 PDLs released bureauwide from March 1, 2024 to March 31, 2024. This is the result of the simultaneous culminating program facilitated by the External Affairs Section (EAS) of all Prison and Penal Farms (PPFs). This includes 410 from the NBP, 96 from Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF), 65 from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), 65 from Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF), 55 from San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF), 48 from Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF), and 44 from Leyte Regional Prison (LRP).
The 528 majority of the 783 released PDLs already served their maximum sentence, 132 were acquitted, 97 qualified for parole, 20 were granted probation, 2 were granted a conditional pardon, three paid cash bonds, and one posted a bail bond.
The total number of PDLs released in the month of March saw a significant increase from the 706 released in the previous month. Today’s release brings the total number of PDLs released under the administration of DG CATAPANG to 9,813.
