The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) donated handicrafts, painting, farming, and tailoring packages to 115 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) confined in the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City and Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City as part of the 122nd Labor Day celebration on May 13, 2024.
The turnover of donations was facilitated by the Works and Livelihood Division headed by CT/SUPT DOROTHY BERNABE. The DOLE was represented by ATTY. OLIVIA O. OBRERO SAMSON, Assistant Regional Director of DOLE-NCR.
The packages aimed to assist the PDLs in establishing sustainable livelihoods while incarcerated, equipping them with essential tools and training for their successful reintegration into society. This recognition underscores the commitment of BuCor and DOLE to empower PDLs by providing them with the necessary resources and opportunities to build a better future for themselves
Through the leadership of BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.) CESE, CCLH, the Bureau will continuously promote rehabilitation and facilitate significant steps towards holistic PDL care and support.
