DPPF celebrates Mental Health Awareness Month

Issues pertaining to mental health were taboo in the past years. It brings stigma due to wrong connotations related to mental health. However, people nowadays realize the importance of these issues and topics. It plays a vital role in our day to day lives as it involves emotions, thought patterns, psychological well-being. It allows the person create a harmonious interpersonal relationship and make good decisions and health choices.
The Health and Welfare Services Section (HWSS) of Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) with the unrelenting support of C/SINSP EDGARDO F MENDOZA JR., Acting Superintendent, conducted a Mental Health Awareness Program for the Women Corrections Officers held at the Parade Ground on May 16, 2024.
An inspirational message was given by the Guest Speaker, Ms. Maria Ana Munoz Padilla, Associate Professor (Ret.) of the University of Southeastern Philippines. She emphasized the importance of both physical and mental well-being.
The core essence of conducting the program is to provide an opportunity to have a better understanding of the issues and reduce if not eliminate the stigma attached to the topics and issues concerning mental health specially to women who often face tantamount challenges in their day to day lives.
The celebration concluded with a Zumba Dance and parlor games, which everyone enjoyed which contributed to the holistic health of the body and mind.
