BuCor Hosts Graduation and Oath-Taking Ceremonies at NBP Parade Ground

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) celebrated a momentous occasion today at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Parade Ground, as they hosted the graduation ceremony for the 504 members of the Corrections Officer Custodial Basic Course (COCBC) Class 01- 2023 PAYONIRUS. The event was also marked by the oath-taking ceremony of a newly promoted Corrections Technical Chief Superintendent (CT/CSUPT).
The atmosphere was filled with pride and excitement as the COCBC Class 01-2023
PAYONIRUS graduates crossed the stage, marking the culmination of their rigorous
training and dedication to their roles as Corrections Officers. The graduating class
comprises 343 male and 161 female recruits who have undergone rigorous training to prepare them for their duties as Correction Officers.
Ten (10) outstanding Class 01-2023 PAYONIRUS members have emerged as the top
achievers. Despite the challenging journey of winning supremacy over oneself, they
have displayed paramount competence and excellence both in tactics and academics. The following individuals hold the top ranks (1-10, in order): CO1 Elvies O Dammay, CO1 Elizabeth P Sawi, CO1 Sarah Angelica C Galindon, CO1 Sarah Mia P Bancud, CO1 Roxanne A Tumapang, CO1 Sharina Rose C Balderama, CO1 Illonah B Sayod, CO1 Cirlyn Chris S Labao, CO1 Keith S Baculi, and CO1 Reden B Rojado.
Meanwhile, CO1 Mark Evans Esguerra received the Leadership Award; CO1 Jose
Pacan III received the Tactical Leadership Award; CO1 Michael Salazar and CO1
Angela Gonsalez bagged the Bernardo Carpio Awards for the male and female
categories respectively; CO1 Joriel N Montillano received the award for Best Company; CO1 Jade Mar Castillo received the Best Platoon Award; and CO1 Cherry Rose Ann B Pereña received the award for the Best Battalion Commander.
The graduation ceremony was followed by the oath-taking ceremony of newly
promoted CT/CSUPT MA. CECILIA V VILLANUEVA, which was administered by BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH. The
promotion of CT/CSUPT VILLANUEVA symbolizes the Bureau’s dedication to
recognizing and rewarding excellence within its ranks, as well as the individual’s commitment to serving with integrity and honor.
The event was attended by officials, staff, and families of the graduates, all of whom
gathered to show their support and celebrate this significant milestone. The BuCor
remains committed to fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism within the corrections system, and events like these serve as a reminder of the important role that Corrections Officers play in maintaining order and security within our communities.
The BuCor, under the leadership of DG CATAPANG, looks forward to the continued
