The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is one of the most widely celebrated holidays worldwide. It marks the beginning of the lunar New Year. The Southern Lion and Dragon dance troupe performed a traditional lion and dragon dance at San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) this year. The performance became more meaningful as the SRPPF caters to Filipino-Chinese Persons Deprived of Liberty.
The festivities are also an opportunity for personal growth and renewal. As the New Year begins, many take the time to reflect on the past and set intentions for the future. It is a time for letting go of past grievances, forgiving old wounds, and starting afresh with a clear heart and mind. In Chinese culture, it is believed that a person’s way of starting the New Year sets the tone for the entire year, so it is important to enter it with positivity and optimism.
May this Chinese New Year bring health, happiness, and prosperity.
