Iwahig, Puerto Princesa – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) conducted a payout to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) of Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm under the program of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantage/Displace Workers (TUPAD) on 19 February 2025.
This activity helps the PDLs support and provide opportunities for those disadvantaged or displaced by circumstances. It will provide skills development and financial support, fostering opportunities for a more positive transition once they are reintegrated into society.
The TUPAD program is an initiative by the DOLE in the Philippines. It aims to provide temporary wage employment to disadvantaged or displaced workers, particularly those in need of immediate assistance such as persons in marginalized sectors, underprivileged communities, and PDLs.
BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, through IPPF Superintendent C/SUPT GARY A GARCIA, RCrim, MSCA, supporting this initiative. Their leadership highlights the importance of collaboration between various government agencies and institutions, especially in efforts to improve the lives of PDLs.
