On 20 February 2025, the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) successfully completed planting rice in four (4) hectares of plantation at IPPF Central Sub-Colony. This was done with the assistance of the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) under the Work and Livelihood Program (WLP).
This activity aims to strengthen agricultural initiatives at IPPF, which is in line with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Department of Justice (DOJ) Reformation Initiative for Sustainable Environment for Food Security (RISE) to promote food security and rehabilitation of PDLs. It is also part of the reformation program under the WLP where they are provided with different livelihood opportunities that would sustainably improve their income when they are reintegrated into society.
BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, through IPPF Superintendent C/SUPT GARY A GARCIA, RCrim, MSCA, ensuring this continuously carries out such initiatives to boost agricultural activities that intend to contribute to food security.
