The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), through the leadership of DIRECTOR GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, officially turned over the newly established Bureau of Immigration Warden’s Facility (BIWF) to Bureau of Immigration (BI) COMMISSIONER JOEL ANTHONY VIADO in a formal ceremony held on 04 July 2025 within the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservation in Muntinlupa City.
The inauguration and turn over ceremony was graced by the presence of the Secretary of Justice, the Hon. JESUS CRISPIN “Boying” C. REMULLA.
The facility, formerly known as the Muntinlupa Juvenile Training Center (MJTC) Barracks, has been newly developed and repurposed as the BIWF in line with the Secretary’s directive to enhance inter-agency coordination and strengthen custodial infrastructure.
The newly inaugurated BIWF is established to help decongest detention areas and improve health and sanitary conditions for persons under BI custody. The project demonstrates the shared vision of the DOJ and its attached agencies to uphold safe, humane, and standards-compliant detention practices.
The BuCor proudly supports the Justice Secretary’s reform agenda and reaffirms its dedication to fulfilling its mandate in service to the Filipino people.
