CNTI Opens Custodial Officer Basic Course for Class 2025-01

On 15 July 2025, the Corrections National Training Institute (CNTI) formally opened the Custodial Officer Basic Course (COBC) for Class 2025-01 during a ceremony held at the Liwanag Room, CNTI Building. The opening of the course marks the beginning of a foundational training program designed to equip Corrections Inspectors, Corrections Technical Inspectors, Corrections Senior Inspectors, and Corrections Technical Senior Inspectors with the core competencies, values, and operational knowledge required for effective custodial service within the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
Class 2025-01 is composed of 57 Commissioned Officers from across BuCor operating units. The class includes 30 officers from the National Headquarters, eleven (11) from Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF), six (6) from Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF), five (5) from San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF), three (3) from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), and one (1) officer each from Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) and Leyte Regional Prison (LRP).
CSINSP ALLAN A ROSALES, Deputy Director of CNTI and Commandant of the Applied Training Division, formally presented the members of Class 2025-01.
The ceremony was graced by CTSSUPT DOROTHY BERNABE, Director of the Directorate for Reformation, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. In her keynote address, CTSSUPT BERNABE emphasized the critical role of the COBC training in shaping Commissioned Officers capable of upholding the Bureau’s mandate with integrity, discipline, and a deep sense of public service.
The COBC is a key component of BuCor’s professional development program. Through a comprehensive curriculum combining theoretical instruction and practical application, the course ensures that participants are well-prepared to uphold the safety, security, and dignity of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), while contributing to the broader mission of national corrections reform.
