BuCor conducts its 6th Culminating Program F.Y. 2023

With the theme “Naligaw Man Ang Daan, Bagong Pag-asa at Maayos Na Buhay Pa Rin Ang Uuwian”, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) organized its 6th Culminating Program F.Y. 2023 to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) held at the Social Hall, National Headquarters, New Bilibid Prison Reservation, Muntinlupa City on August 24, 2023.
 
The event was graciously welcomed by USEC DEO L. MARCO as the Guest of Honor on behalf of SECRETARY JESUS CRISPIN C. REMULLA, together with ASEC JOSE DOMINIC F. CLAVANO IV and ASEC FRANCIS JOHN L. TEJANO of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Also present were ATTY. PERSIDA RUEDA-ACOSTA, D.S.D., Chief, Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), ASEC GIL T. TORRALBA, Deputy Director General for Security and Operations (DDGSO) and GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, Director General of the Bureau of Corrections.
 
Generally, a total of eight hundred eighty (880) PDL were released Bureauwide for the period June 28 to August 24, 2023. This is the result of the simultaneous culminating program from the different Operating Prison and Penal Farms (OPPFs) which consisted of 374- at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), 196- at Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF), 101- at Leyte Regional Prison (LRP), 58- at San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF), 25- at Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF), 29- at Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF), 92- at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) and 5 from NBP Extension Facility, Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
In fact, as of August 24, 2023, the 92 PDL of NBP and CIW from yesterday’s event are included in the list of 880 released PDL Bureauwide.
 
Correspondingly, 386 of these PDL were released due to Expiration of Maximum Sentence with Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA), while others were due to Acquittal (200) and Parole (196).
 
This event has yet reached the highest total number of releases for the year 2023 that immensely improved the congestion rate. All thanks to the DOJ, PAO, BuCor and all concerned offices and other stakeholders in their collaborative efforts to expedite the release system of eligible PDL into the mainstream society.
The accomplishment of the culminating activity was realized under the leadership of GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR, AFP (Ret.) CESE, BuCor Director General.
