The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) held a blessing and inauguration ceremony for the newly constructed Inter-Agency Office and Barracks within the Director’s Quarter at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservation on April 15, 2024.
The event was attended by high-ranking officials from various law enforcement agencies, including Deputy Director General for Operations of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) RENATO GUMBAN, Police Major General JOSE MELENCIO C NARTATEZ, JR., of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Assistant Director General MANUEL M ORDOÑA of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.) CESE, CCLH, and other Key Officials and personnel from these agencies attended the event.
The Inter-Agency Office and Barracks were established to facilitate closer collaboration and coordination among law enforcement agencies in addressing common challenges related to PDL safekeeping and rehabilitation. It is intended to serve as a hub for information sharing, joint operations, and capacity-building initiatives.
In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, DG CATAPANG emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation in ensuring the effective administration of the country’s correctional system. He expressed his confidence that the new facility would significantly enhance the capabilities of law enforcement agencies in addressing the challenges posed by organized crime, drug trafficking, and other threats to public safety inside prison facilities.
