BuCor Kicks Off National Women’s Month with Holy Mass

On March 03, 2025, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) officially commenced the observance of National Women’s Month with a solemn Holy Mass held before the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony at the National Headquarters in Muntinlupa City. The month-long celebration, spanning from March 1 to 31, 2025, aims to highlight women’s achievements and discuss continuing and emerging women’s empowerment.

BuCor personnel gathered to participate in the Eucharistic celebration, showing the bureau’s commitment to gender equality, inclusivity, and the empowerment of women in the workplace. Following the Holy Mass was the traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony attended by BuCor personnel.

As part of the traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony, a recognition segment highlighted the presentation of a Plaque of Commendation to Head Executive Assistant CT/CSUPT MARIA FE R MARQUEZ for her exemplary leadership as the Chairperson of the recently concluded ASEAN Regional Correctional Conference (ARCC) held from February 14-17, 2025, in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Her efforts in ensuring the success of the international event solidified BuCor’s position as a key player in regional correctional reforms and collaborations.

Also recognized were members of the BuCor Band, who were awarded Certificates of Commendation for securing third place in the Chorale Competition held in celebration of the 122nd Founding Anniversary of the Land Registration Authority (LRA), an attached agency of the DOJ.

BuCor remains steadfast in its advocacy for gender-responsive governance and acknowledges the indispensable role of women in corrections and public service. The observance of National Women’s Month serves as a reminder of the continuous pursuit of equality and excellence in the workplace.

As the celebration continues throughout March, BuCor will host a series of activities aimed at building awareness, empowerment, and appreciation for the significant contributions of women in the correctional system.
