A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed between the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and Muntinlupa National High School (MNHS) for the successful implementation of the Senior High School Arts and Design Track inside New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
Present at the event were signatories BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.) CESE, CCLH, and School Principal IV of MNHS FLORENTE C MARMETO, EDD, Ph.D. who finalized the agreement in a ceremony held on April 3, 2024 at the NBP-Medium Security Camp (NBP-MedSeCamp).
The MOA signing was witnessed by C/CINSP RUBEN R FORMOSO, Camp Commander of NBP-MedSeCamp, Public School District Supervisor of the Department of Education (DepEd) Muntinlupa ERIC F. FUNGO, Ph.D., and other officials from both agencies.
Under the agreement, Person Deprived of Liberty (PDL) students are able to receive formal education in the SHS program with Arts and Design Track that is equivalent to programs offered by other educational institutions in a free society. This will prepare the PDL students to meet the needs and challenges of employment, entrepreneurship, or higher education after they graduate.
“This agreement is a step forward in our commitment to providing PDLs with quality education and rehabilitation programs. We believe that through education, we can empower them to become productive members of society”, DG CATAPANG said.
