BuCor’s third day of celebration marking its founding anniversary
The medical mission for the men and women of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) was led by the Directorate for Health and Welfare Services (DHWS), which was held at the Grotto on November 8, 2023. The team was led by CT/SSUPT MA CECILIA V VILLANUEVA, MD, CPRO. They offered free medical prescriptions and multivitamins in addition to general examinations, eye check-up, blood glucose tests, and uric acid testing to help enhance the health of the staff.
In the meantime, Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE; ASEC AL I PERRERAS, AFP (Ret.), Deputy Director General for Administration (DDGA); and ASEC GIL T TORRALBA, Deputy Director General for Administration (DDGA) graced the Pinning of Service Loyalty Award of Uniformed and Non-Uniformed Personnel. One hundred sixty-six (166) personnel received the pins in recognition of their unwavering commitment to their service over thirty and forty years.
An exhibition of artwork featuring confiscated contrabands seized from Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) was arranged by visionary artist Mr. Pete Jimenez in collaboration with the Quiapo- Plaza Miranda Rotary Club, under the direction of Attorney Arman Jeson Galang was featured at the National Headquarters (NHQ) Social Hall. This display sought to demonstrate that the purpose of the artwork is to appreciate its beauty rather than exploit it for harmful purposes.
The Public Information Office (PIO) hosted the “Bagong BuCor para sa Bagong Pilipinas” poster-making contest, which was also featured throughout the event. The aforementioned competition aims to reveal their inventiveness and allow their artwork to speak for itself. Nine (9) artistic personnel took part in the competition, with CO1 Rechel P Inday of the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) emerging as the Grand Winner and receiving a Certificate of Achievement & Certificate of Appreciation with a cash prize. First runner-up was CO1 Lara Mae Y Landingan from the Directorate for Security and Operations (DSO), followed by CO3 John Glenn L. Maglantay of the Minimum Security Compound (MinSeCom) in second place, and CO1 James Earl Barite of the Directorate for Health and Welfare Services (DHWS) received a special award while the other participants received a certificate of appreciation.
