The Leyte Regional Prison (LRP), through C/SUPT JOSEMARI D ALAMBRO, Acting Superintendent, successfully received 1,000 cacao planting materials from the Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC) – Leyte headed by Mr. Jorge P. Alvero, Jr., PAFC Chairperson in a formal Ceremonial Planting and Turnover activity held on 23 January 2025 at LRP.
This represents a collective endeavor involving the Abuyog Cacao and Tropical Fruit Growers Association, the Department of Agriculture Regional Office VIII, the Municipal Agriculture Office of Abuyog, and local farmer stakeholders, with aims to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability and generate livelihood opportunities within the prison.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was also signed, formalizing the shared roles and responsibilities of all parties involved.
The significant activity was made possible through the dedicated efforts of CO2 Noli Ann C Billo, Chief, Reformation, CO2 Rey C America, Chief, Work and Livelihood Section and personnel along with the active involvement of CO1 Trainees Class 02 DASIG-TIKAS.
