The Pinoy-Hapon United Foundation (PHUF) Inc., in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, the City Government of Muntinlupa, the Bureau of Corrections, Quirino Foundation, Inc., and other Japanese organizations in Manila, conducted the ceremonial unveiling of the President Elpidio Quirino Monument at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservation, Poblacion, Muntinlupa City on December 12, 2024.
The ceremonial event was graciously witnessed and attended by esteemed dignitaries, including Ambassador ENDO KAZUYA and his wife, Mme. Endo Akiko from the Embassy of Japan; Mr. ASANUMA TAKESHI, PHUF Inc. Chairman; HON. ROZANNO RUFINO B. BIAZON, Mayor of City Government of Muntinlupa; Atty. Aleli Angela G. Quirino from the Quirino Foundation; Ms. Kano Kayoko, representative of the Kano Foundation; Mr. Kazunori Okamoto, President of the Japanese Association Manila; and other guests. BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH was represented by C/CSUPT MELENCIO S FAUSTINO, Director, BuCor Land Control and Management Center (BLCMC).
The attendees witnessed the presentation of a bust of former President Quirino by the Quirino Foundation, followed by a ceremonial toast. This monument is a symbolic tribute to honor and commemorate the late President Elpidio Quirino’s exemplary leadership and noble act of humanity. In addition, his significant contribution strengthened the strong bond and unity between Japan and the Philippines.
Furthermore, the honored guests and officials expressed their congratulations and deep gratitude for this event, which was a testament to peace, love, and harmony.
