DG CATAPANG targets IPPF to be an Agro-Aqua Industrial Food Center

Iwahig, Puerto Princesa – A command visit of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE was successfully conducted at Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) last April 25 – 28, 2023.
 
The meeting was attended by ASEC FRANCIS JOHN L. TEJANO of the Department of Justice (ODG), J/SINSP ANGELINA L BAUTISTA (Ret.) OIC-Deputy Director General for Operations and ODG-Head Executive Assistant and other BuCor Key Officials.
In his meeting with the representatives of the Department of Agriculture (DA), DG CATAPANG discussed his goal for IPPF to be an Agro-Aqua Industrial Food Center that aims to utilized some of the land areas of IPPF for food production- making it a world-class standard prison facility.
 
Aside from that, he conducted multiple land inspections and identified more possible projects that will be beneficial for the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) like the return of the Barrio Libertad, wherein he will allot at least 1 to 2 hectares of land intended to PDL who are due-for-release under the minimum-security category to live with their families within the reservation with proper security measures.
Moreover, DG CATAPANG also had the opportunity to discuss matters with the officials of the province of Palawan, namely GOVERNOR VICTORINO DENNIS M. SOCRATES, Puerto Princesa City Mayor, HON. LUCILO R. BAYRON, and the Western Command (WESCOM) Chief, VICE ADMIRAL ALBERTO CARLOS PN on the said matter.
 
The significant visit of DG CATAPANG aims to build stronger connections that will partake in the development and plans of the institution. He believed that through the joint efforts with other relevant agencies, BuCor will be able to contribute to food security, can build a vibrant tourism industry through our existing and developing tourist attractions as well as in the aspect of environmental protection.
 
The Superintendent of IPPF, C/CINSP GARY A GARCIA is in full support and joins the Bureau of Corrections Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE on its vision to continuously develop and improve IPPF in providing quality and excellent public service to the whole community.
