The Directorate for Health and Welfare Services (DHWS) of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) conducted its first multi-year Strategic Planning Workshop in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), on 4 – 7 March 2025 at the at the Acacia Hotel Muntinlupa.
The workshop was through the initiative of CT/CSUPT MA CECILIA V VILLANUEVA, MD, CPRO, OIC, Deputy Director General for Reformation, and Director, Directorate for DHWS, which was participated in by Operating Prison and Penal Farm (OPPF) Physicians, Chief Nurses, and DHWS staff.
The workshop aims to identify the healthcare system’s needs and challenges, conduct a SWOT analysis, and then develop a plan of action and ways forward.
BuCor DIRECTOR GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP(Ret.) CESE, CCLH, had a brief and fruitful meeting with the ICRC delegates, who assured their continuous support to the BuCor healthcare services.
Dr. Michael Caampued, Strategic Planning Facilitator, presented the output of the workshop to DG CATAPANG.
In his remarks, DG CATAPANG congratulated the DHWS on the said workshop and encouraged the participants to pursue the changes needed in health care services for the benefit of Persons Deprived of Liberty.
