DOJ Katarungan Caravan conducts Legal Aid Activity at NBP-MedSeCamp

On August 15, 2024, the Department of Justice (DOJ) Katarungan Caravan conducted free legal aid activity to the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) held at the New Bilibid Prison Medium Security Camp (NBP-MedSeCamp), Muntinlupa City.
The Department of Justice Action Center (DOJAC) spearheaded the activity led by the DOJ Undersecretary HON. MARGARITA N. GUTIERREZ, together with Assistant Secretary FRANCIS JOHN L. TEJANO and Assistant State Prosecutor Joan Carla V. Guevarra, DOJAC’s Program Director, and other DOJ staff. Lawyers from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Rizal Chapter, including Supervising Lawyers, Law Interns, Calleja Law Office lawyers, and the Legal Aid Society of the Philippines, also participated in providing legal aid to the PDLs.
Two hundred fifty (250) Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) were given legal assistance in the said program. The PDLs were delighted and hopeful about the assistance the DOJAC extended to them.
The Bureau of Corrections Director General GREGORIO PIO CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.) CESE, CCLH, shared a heartfelt message to the PDLs, expressing hope for their release from prison.
This activity was a success through the collaborative efforts of Education and Training Section headed by CTSO2 Sonny S Pesa; the Overseer Office under C/SINSP MAURICIO M GRATIS; the Security Patrol Unit led by CSO2 Rudy M Mendoza, and the Office of the Deputy Camp Commander for Reformation, C/SINSP ANTHONY NUPABLE G OMEGA, with the supervision and support of C/CINSP RUBEN R FORMOSO, Camp Commander, NBP-MedSeCamp.
The Bureau proves that they are dedicated and committed to the welfare of our clientele through this endeavor.
