IPPF celebrates the Sinulog Festival

Iwahig, Puerto Princesa – The Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm Inagawan Sub-Colony (IPPF-ISC) celebrated the Sinulog Festival in honor of the Feast of Señor Santo Niño, held every third Sunday of January.

The devotion of the Medium Security Compound of the ISC to Señor Santo Niño is a tradition that has been upheld since the 1990s, this is a powerful testament to the community’s enduring faith and spiritual connection, with Santo Niño as their patron saint for many years, the residents of ISC have cultivated a strong sense of identity and devotion, which continues to serve as a source of strength and hope.

The celebration commenced with a Holy Mass at St. Isidoro Parish Church, presided over by Rev. Fr. Jums Arcelo. Following the mass, a lively parade took place around the ISC. In addition, a group of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) from MedSeCom performed a graceful dance while carrying the image of the Child Jesus, symbolizing their deep devotion and faith, as well as their expression of gratitude and reverence.

BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, through IPPF Superintendent C/SUPT GARY A GARCIA, RCrim, MSCA, fully supports the celebration of the festival. The event aims to strengthen the faith of the devotees, particularly the PDLs, as part of their rehabilitation under the Moral and Spiritual Program.
