Iwahig, Puerto Princesa – A total of fourteen (14) personnel of the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) participated in a 3–day Military-Small Unit Tactics/Tactical Maneuver Training, as part of the Balikatan Exercise 2023, conducted by the B Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), US Army held last April 13, 14 and 26, 2023 at the Central Sub-Colony, IPPF.
Principles of Patrolling, Vehicle Drop Off, Types of Movement, and Reconnaissance were among the topics covered in lectures on the first day of training. The participants demonstrated their newly gained knowledge and skills by engaging in simulation exercises such as raiding an enemy base on the following days.
Balikatan is an exercise between two affiliated countries that aims to enhance cooperation, strengthen skills, increase capabilities, and improve abilities. Likewise, IPPF personnel including the sixty (60) Uniformed personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) also participated the said training.
The Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, through the Superintendent of IPPF, C/CINSP GARY A GARCIA, is continuously upgrading its personnel by participating in such training that will be beneficial in their line of duty.
