The Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF), through its Work and Livelihood Section (WLS), has strengthened its reformation efforts by introducing various livelihood programs aimed at improving the lives of the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
In line with the directive of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General, the IPPF has launched a program dedicated to cultivating and propagating medicinal plants and herbs. This initiative seeks to supplement the budget for medicines for PDLs by utilizing medicinal plants and herbs.
The Hardin ng Lunas showcases proven herbal remedies such as the insulin plant, oregano, sambong, and lemongrass, among others. The garden is maintained by PDLs as part of IPPF’s reformation efforts, providing them with valuable skills and a sense of responsibility.
BuCor Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, through IPPF Superintendent C/SUPT GARY A GARCIA, RCrim, MSCA will continue to provide efficient and effective reformation activities for the PDLs under their care.
