The Closing Ceremony for the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) K9 Handling Training “Class Kidlat” took place on September 11, 2024 at the LRP grounds. This significant event marked the culmination of a rigorous training program that commenced on April 22, 2024.
A total of fourteen (14) Corrections Officers successfully completed the training program, which included thirteen (13) male and one (1) female participant. This group demonstrated dedication and perseverance throughout the training period.
The ceremony began with welcome remarks delivered by Mr. Tracy B. Soriano, Deputy Superintendent for Administration, on behalf of C/CINSP JOSEMARI D ALAMBRO, Acting Superintendent of LRP. Mr. Soriano expressed his appreciation for the dedication shown by the participants and highlighted the importance of K9 handling skills in enhancing security operations.
During the program, the K9 dogs featured an impressive display of teamwork and skill. The handlers and their canine partners demonstrated a variety of specialized abilities, highlighting the extensive training that these dogs undergo.
Honored guests namely: MAJOR CLAUDINE SHARRA S REGUNDIQUE, Commanding Officer, 2EOP, 2EODC, EODB ASCOM, PA, 802 Brigade, Camp Jorge Downes, Ormoc City, Leyte and Intelligence Officer 1 Roeder Rubenecia, Regional K9, Chief, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) gave their inspirational messages that resonated deeply with all attendees. Their words motivated the participants and highlighted the importance of dedication and commitment to service.
Furthermore, the distinguished guests took part in the distribution of Certificates of Completion to the attendees. They were assisted in this important task by Mr. Soriano and CTO3 Flordeliza C. Ablanque, Chief, Learning and Development Section.
C/CINSP JOSEMARI D ALAMBRO, Acting Superintendent, LRP, recognized the accomplishments of the participants, likewise the completion of the training as crucial for ensuring both the proficiency of the canine dog and the safety of its handler. Effective training not only enhances the dog’s skills but also solidifies the bond between the handler and the dog, fostering a successful working relationship that can be instrumental in enhancing the safety and security of prison operations.
