The 57 trainees of the Corrections Officer Custodial Basic Course (COCBC) CL 01-2023 “PAYONIRUS” of Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) celebrated the culmination of their Lakan Kali training in a pinning ceremony on May 06, 2024 held at LRP.
The trainees were awarded the Lakan Kalis Pin, a symbol of their mastery of the Filipino martial art commonly practiced by uniformed services such as the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The Non-Academic Phase of the COCBC incorporates Lakan Kalis training to equip CO1/Trainees with self-defense skills and tactics. The Local Corrections National Training Institute (CNTI) and its Tactical Officers made sure that the trainees were thoroughly equipped with the necessary knowledge and abilities needed for their future duties at the bureau.
