LRP signs MOA with DSWD on Sustainable Livelihood Program

On July 05, 2024, the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 8 (DSWD FO8) Eastern Visayas together with the Municipal Local Government of Abuyog, Leyte on the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). The MOA was signed at the Regional Operations Center (ROC) of DSWD FO8 in Palo, Leyte.
The signatories were C/CINSP JOSEMARI D ALAMBRO, Acting Superintendent of LRP, GRACE Q. SUBONG, Regional Director of DSWD FO8, and Honorable LEMUEL GIN K. TRAYA, Mayor of Abuyog, Leyte.
The SLP is a five-year capability-building program of the DSWD that aims to improve the livelihood and socio-economic well-being of the community’s vulnerable members and alleviate poverty through the collaborative efforts of government, non-government organizations, and financial institutions.
For the participating Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), each individual will receive start-up capital, which can be used to purchase materials and equipment to start or expand a livelihood program.
C/CINSP ALAMBRO expresses his genuine gratitude to DSWD as the PDLs, even those incarcerated, are still part of the community and are given equal livelihood opportunities.
The LRP signifies its commitment to SLP by properly utilizing allocated resources in implementing reformation and skills development programs, thereby improving the economic productivity and rehabilitation of PDLs.
