On August 6, 2024, Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing Ceremony between the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and the Technical Education Skill Development Authority (TESDA) was successfully conducted at the Medium Security Camp (MedSeCamp),New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Muntinlupa City. C/CSUPT CELSO S BRAVO, OIC, Deputy Director General for Reformation (DDGR) and ENGR. JOVENCIO M. FERRER JR., Regional Director, TESDA-NCR signed the said MOA. It was also signed in the presence of C/SSUPT GERARDO F PADILLA, Director, Directorate for Reformation, and CT/SUPT DOROTHY C BERNABE, MAEd, Chief, Education and Training Division and DIR. MARIA GRACIA P. DELA RAMA, and District Director, TESDA-MuntiParLasTaPat. Likewise, C/CINSP RUBEN R FORMOSO, Acting Camp Commander, NBP MedSeCamp delivered his warm welcome remarks to the attendees.
The said MOA establishes the general terms and conditions by which, the parties agree partnership in the provision of training to the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and shall be known, “TESDA-BUCOR Partnership on Vocational Training Program.” This effort focused on providing the incarcerated individuals with skill opportunities and knowledge that support their personal development and for their future employment once they are released.
Further, BuCor personnel and PDL Trainers will receive trainings, seminars, and workshops on how to teach and facilitate the classes, as well as the educational and training materials required to complete the program.
Indeed, this strong collaboration will be one of the catalysts in building successful implementation of a technical skill development program in the bureau for the best interest of the PDLs and to prepare them in their return to the community.
