The Bureau of Corrections’ SWAT Team headed by C/INSP NELSON BATTAD completed the SWAT Refresher Course last May 15 to June 02, 2023 held at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservations’ Firing Range and Sunken Garden.
The opening ceremony took place on May 15, 2023 and was graced by MR. THEODORE PEREZ, Chief of the Learning and Development Division (LDD).
They were divided into three (3) batches to compromise and accommodate all operational matter in order to ensure the course’s smooth transition. On the first day, each batch underwent a 5-day refresher course lecture on Crisis Management, Close Quarter Battle (CQB) and Immediate Action Drill (IAD), followed by Firing Handling, Dry Firing, Turning and Facing on the second day.
Many of the topics discussed and practiced by the team on the third day of the refresher course included Firearm Assembling and Disassembling, Malfunction and Treatment, Firearm Testing (handguns, long firearms and shotgun), Data Gathering, Fire Zeroing and CQB Drills. On the fourth day, they performed Ambush Drills and Practical Test for Malfunction Treatment and CQB Drills.
Finally, on the last day of the refresher course, the 3 batches underwent practical test for CQB (Live Firing) and Low Light Engagement (Night Firing).
C/SSUPT (ATTY.) DAISY S CASTILLOTE, Acting Director, Directorate for Administration together with MR. PEREZ attended the closing ceremony on June 02, 2023, to provide much-needed support to the event, particularly to the personnel who participated in the course with tenacity and bravery.
