SPPF accommodates 493 accounted PDL

On August 09, 2023, the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) accommodated four hundred ninety-three (493) accounted Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) under its care. The combined expertise of Key Officials from SPPF, namely C/CINSP ANGELITO DG LAPITAN, C/CINSP MICHAEL M MARTIN, RCrim, MSCA, DPA; C/SINSP EDUARDO GUTIERREZ; C/SINSP FREDERICK CHARLES Y LIM; C/SINSP ROLANDO P CEDERO; and C/INSP RENANTE H HAFALLA, under the leadership of Superintendent C/SUPT ROBERT A VENERACION, along with dedicated teams from the Quick Response Force (QRF), BuCor Security and Escort Command (BSEC), Gate Security Control Unit (GSCU), and the Medical Team, have successfully facilitated the transfer of these PDL.

Additionally, the transfer was executed flawlessly through the leadership of C/CINSP EDGARDO GOGORZA of New Bilibid Prison (NBP) and supported by eighty-eight (88) Commissioned and Non-Commissioned personnel. Upon arrival, the PDL strictly followed the protocol on prison security measures which included medical evaluations and orientation regarding prison rules and regulations.

Accommodating the accounted PDL to this prison brings both challenges and opportunities. The challenge lies in managing the increased population, while the opportunity is to enhance and share knowledge in providing top-quality prison services. This endeavor also served as an ideal training ground for newly recruited COs, reinforcing the united commitment of SPPF to offer the best possible Prison Service to the public.
Under the innovative leadership of Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, the administration continuously hones the skills of Corrections Officers through hands-on experiences, thereby elevating the standard of public service. Thus, strongly uplifting the quality of public service with the Bureau of Corrections’ twin mandate, which are Safekeeping and Reforming.
