The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Synchronizing Anti-Illegal Drug Efforts held at the New Conference Room, National Headquarters, Muntinlupa City on October 10, 2023.
The MOA signing was attended by NBI DIRECTOR (ATTY.) MEDARDO G. DE LEMOS; PNP Chief, POLICE GENERAL BENJAMIN C ACORDA JR; PDEA DIRECTOR GENERAL MORO VIRGILIO M. LAZO; and NICA DIRECTOR GENERAL RICARDO F. DE LEON represented by the Assistant Director General ROLANDO E ASUNCION, Counter Intelligence. This event successfully carried out the creation of the Inter-Agency Collaboration Group (IACG) to deter illegal drug activities inside the facility.
Also in attendance were BuCor Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.) CESE, ASEC AL I PERRERAS, Deputy Director General for Administration (DDGA), ASEC GIL T TORRALBA, Deputy Director General for Operations (DDGO) together with other BuCor Key Officials, distinguished guests and visitors.
The purpose of the MOA signing is to combat drug related issues and share intelligence to dismantle criminal activity in accordance with the REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9165 otherwise called as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
Hence, BuCor intends to develop stronger bonds to enhance security operations and support the proliferation of contrabands.
