BuCor celebrates the 29th NCCW

October 23, 2023 is the opening of the 29th National Correctional Consciousness Week (NCCW) with the theme: “The Correctional Community: Journeying together in Mutual Support on a Mission of Love,” held at the National Headquarters, Administrative Building Façade.
 
The NCCW is annually celebrated by the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) every last week of October, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 551, s. 1995, which aims to promote awareness for public participation in the re-socialization and reintegration of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) into society as productive and law-abiding citizens.
 
The celebration started with a concelebrated mass headed by C/SINSP REV. FR. DOMINIC LIBREA and other Officiating Ministers. The PDL choir under the custody of Minimum Security Compound (MinSeCom) rendered a song also followed by the regular Flag Raising Ceremony facilitated by the Office of Internal Affairs Service (IAS) headed by ATTY. CEASAR ANTHONY S. SOLIS, CPA, MBA,
 
Part of the program was the Turn-Over Ceremony of the ninety-five (95) Corrections Officers 1 (CO1/T) and Corrections Technical Officer 1 Trainees (CTO1/T) who will undergo mandatory Corrections Officer Custodial Basic Course (COCBC) as Class 22-2023 presented by CTSO4 Mary Anne L Esculto, Chief, Human Resource Division and accepted by C/CINSP LUCIO C GUEVARRA, Acting Director, Corrections National Training Institute (CNTI).
 
CT/CSUPT MARIA FE R MARQUEZ, Head Executive Assistant (HEA), Office of the Director General (ODG) delivered opening remarks followed by ASEC GIL T TORRALBA, Deputy Director General for Operations who rendered a special message on how to give importance to our service and to our clientele, the PDL.
 
Different rendition of performances from the PDL of Maximum Security Compound (MaxSeCom) showed their talents in voice mimicry and dance number, Medium Security Compound (MedSeCom) showcased their skills through singing and dancing while MinSeCom performed a dance prowess. The Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) joined the presentations as they flaunted their dance choreography, which entertained the guests and personnel.
 
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Opening of BuCor Bazaar, for the customary display and selling of PDL handcrafted goods situated at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, Admin Bldg formally kicked off the week-long event.
 
The succeeding activities organized for our clientele to commemorate the event are the following: Day 2, Fun Run for Cause, Zumba and Medical Mission at the MinSeCom; Day 3, Blood Letting Activity at the New Conference Room; Day 4 Gift Giving Activity and Feeding Program at the New Bilibid Prison Compounds namely: (Maximum, Medium and Minimum) including the Reception and Diagnostic Center (RDC); and Legal and Paralegal Services will be offered at the MinSecom and MedSecom; Day 5 Culminating Activity and Medical Mission (RDC). Lastly, on the 6th and 7th day will be the extended visitation hours for the purpose of PDL Family Day at the NBP Compounds and CIW were given to them.
