The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret), CESE, CCLH, visited Sablayan Municipal Mayor, Hon. Walter “Bong” B. Marquez, at the Sablayan Municipal Hall to highlight its ongoing commitment to community development and prison reforms as part of a larger command tour of the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) on 21 May 2025.
The meeting, held on May 21, 2025, was aimed at discussing future joint initiatives and strengthening collaboration between BuCor and the municipal government. This initiative underscores BuCor’s ongoing dedication to the improvement of operations at SPPF, including enhancing security measures and ensuring the smooth transfer of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). It also reflects BuCor’s support for the municipality’s broader development goals.
Joining DIRECTOR GENERAL CATAPANG and Mayor Marquez were several key officials from BuCor, including CSINSP ABEL DR CIRUELA, MSCA, SPPF Acting Superintendent; CCINSP DIOMEDES C DADOR JR., Deputy Superintendent for Security and Operations; CCINSP RAYMUND DL PENEYRA, Chief of PDL Document Processing Section (PDPS); CSINSP ROLANDO P CEDEÑO, Chief of Reservation Security and Escort Command (RSEC); and CO2 JENUS BJG VILLACERAN, Chief of the SPPF BuCor Business Center.
Following the meeting, the delegation conducted site visits to key local infrastructure, including the Port of Sablayan, Sablayan Pressing Park (Parola), the fish landing area, and General Emilio Aguinaldo Airport.
This engagement highlights the mutual commitment of BuCor and the LGU of Sablayan to work together towards enhancing public safety, supporting sustainable development, and building a stronger institutional partnership for the betterment of the community.
