BuCor Conducts Bureauwide COCS Qualifying Examination

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) conducted the bureauwide Corrections Officer Candidate School (COCS) qualifying examination for 940 personnel held at the Medium Security Camp (MedSeCamp), New Bilibid Prison (NBP), Muntinlupa City on 15 July 2025.
ASEC AL I PERRERAS, Deputy Director General for Administration (DDGA) and the COCS Committee Head, visited the venue of the examination and continued to monitor the examination process.
The qualifying examination was administered by the Directorate for Personnel and Human Resource Development (DPHRD) and facilitated by other BuCor Key Officials who were designated as proctors.
The selection process is designed to ensure that only the most capable, disciplined, and committed students/cadets become part of the first batch of Commissioned Officers trained under the COCS. The process consists of the following stages: announcement and application period, qualifying examination, neuro-psychological examination, physical and medical examination, physical agility test, and panel interview.
The COCS was established as the official training institution for Non-Commissioned Officers aspiring to become Commissioned Officers in the Bureau. The school provides structured education and training that equips Corrections Officers with the necessary skills, knowledge, and leadership competencies to assume higher responsibilities in correctional administration.
